Pop Absurdity

Photography & Creative Direction | Self-directed project

"Pop Absurdity" is a self-initiated photography and design project inspired by the vibrant absurdity of Jessica Walsh’s art. With no specific brief, the goal was to experiment with bold visuals and playful storytelling that challenge conventional notions of beauty, empowerment, and identity.

  • Developed ideas through Pinterest boards, sketches, and visual storytelling frameworks.

  • Managed all aspects of set design, props, and wardrobe styling to reflect a dynamic, rebellious aesthetic.

  • Shot and directed the entire series independently, exploring dramatic contrasts between vivid colors, exaggerated poses, and absurd elements like candy-filled bags and reimagined product branding.

  • The series employs surreal juxtapositions, from glittery makeup paired with lollipops to “Vitamin D” vodka bottles, creating a tongue-in-cheek commentary on modern consumerism and femininity.

  • "Pop Absurdity" is a playful yet provocative project that blends vibrant aesthetics with deeper social commentary. Each image invites viewers to question traditional beauty norms and societal expectations, offering a fresh, rebellious perspective through the lens of absurdist art.
